Siding Installation and Repair in Tulsa and Oklahoma City

Black Crown Construction installs and repairs siding, soffit and fascia for homes across the Tulsa metro and Oklahoma City. Siding is the visible layer of a wall system whose real job is keeping water out, so the flashing and barrier behind it matter as much as the panels.

What keeps water out of a wall

Oklahoma's adopted 2024 residential code, as listed in the state's code changes summary, requires exterior walls to provide a weather-resistive envelope that includes flashing, installed shingle-fashion so water runs out, not in. The adopted rule also requires flanged windows to be counter-flashed into the weather-resistant barrier. ENERGY STAR's water management requirements describe the same idea: a continuous drainage plane behind the cladding, fully flashed window and door openings, and kick-out flashing where a roof meets a wall.

    Siding and Oklahoma hail

IBHS built a hail demonstration home with both vinyl and fiber-cement siding to show how performance varies. Its research has noted that no standard hail test method existed for siding, so compare products on thickness, impact performance claims backed by test data and how damaged pieces are replaced.

    Repair or replace?

Cracked, holed or loose pieces can often be replaced individually. Widespread damage, soft sheathing behind the siding, or water stains inside the wall point to removing more siding to find the source. Siding fades over time, so a repaired section may not match older panels exactly.

    Soffit and fascia

Soffit and fascia close the underside and edge of the roof overhang. Rot, gaps, sagging and signs of birds, wasps or rodents are reasons to repair them, and fascia problems often show up behind gutters that overflow. See gutters.

    Frequently asked questions

Can damaged siding be repaired without replacing a whole wall?

Often, yes. Individual cracked or loose pieces can usually be replaced. Widespread damage or wet sheathing behind the siding calls for removing more to find the source.

What is behind siding that keeps water out?

A weather-resistant barrier and flashing installed shingle-fashion, plus flashed window and door openings. Oklahoma's 2024 code adoption covers these details.

Vinyl or fiber cement for Oklahoma?

Both are common. IBHS used both on its hail demonstration home to show that performance varies, so compare products on thickness, impact test data and how damaged pieces are replaced.

Do you repair soffit and fascia?

Yes. Black Crown Construction repairs and replaces soffit and fascia along with siding and gutters.
